Update on Heart Failure

According to The American College of Cardiology and The American Heart Association, Heart Failure (HF) affects nearly 6 million people in the US with one in eight deaths mentioning HF. It's the number one admitting or secondary diagnosis in hospitals today. Despite advances in both treatment and care of HF and acute myocardial infarctions (AMIs) the number of HF deaths in the US continues to rise. As the most common Medicare diagnosis related group, the US is estimated to spend 37.2 billion dollars directly and indirectly, on HF in 2009.

This one-hour web-based seminar (webinar) is designed to give you insight into the latest treatments for heart failure along with the pathophysiological underpinnings of the disease process. You will explore several causes for heart failure, along with the latest diagnostics and cutting-edge treatments.

You will learn to:

1. Describe the process of impaired cardiac compensation that leads to the progressive decompensation of heart failure.
2. Compare and contrast common diagnostic tests for their efficiency and effectiveness.
3. Plan care for patients with heart failure.

If you want to feel more confident in your care of patients with heart failure, then plan to join us on April 22, 2009 at 12 noon for the webinar "Update on Heart Failure."

You will need a computer with internet access and a long-distance phone line to participate in the webinar.)
